18 r e a d u s o n l i n e a t w w w . c i t y s o c i a l . c o m Going Bonsai in Baton r ouge Art isn't always a fixed or permanent thing, but often a living, growing thing; such is the case with the art of bonsaiā€”a Japanese word meaning "tree in a tray" or miniature trees grown in shallow pots. Treating bonsai as art rather than simple horticulture or botany, the Louisiana Bonsai Society is ready and willing to share the art form with newcomers interested in learning more! No special skills or background needed, just an appreciation and interest in the study and craft of bonsai. Interested in learning more? Consider attending a meeting held at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month at the Baton Rouge Garden Center in Independence Park. There, you'll be able to learn about the styles and techniques of bonsai and the wealth of experience members can extend to you on how to succeed in growing and keeping up your bonsai. Join the Louisiana Bonsai Society and go bonsai!
