For a Good Cause Shoot for Change Clay Shoot Cenikor's 10th Annual "Shoot for Change" Clay Shoot is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. on Friday, April 5th, 2013 at Riverside Lodge, located at 52400 Highway 16 in Denham Springs. All proceeds benefit Cenikor's programs and services for those struggling with chronic substance abuse. Get out and take your shot at change! Cenikor has a variety of programs including short-term and long-term inpatient programs, detoxification, outpatient and intensive outpatient services. Cenikor also provides adolescent short-term inpatient treatment, outpatient and intensive outpatient care. Cenikor Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, dedicated to assisting people in developing the skills needed to become responsible citizens free of substance abuse. InnerWheel's 2013 Trash & Treasure Sale Benefits Local Agencies InnerWheel's Annual "Trash & Treasure Sale" returns this year to help benefit the following local agencies: Brave Heart Children in Need, St. Vincent de Paul, Rotary Foundation Scholarship Fund, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, The Hospice of Baton Rouge, The JL Foundation, Louisiana Resource Center for Educators, THRIVE Baton Rouge, and Young Leaders Academy of Baton Rouge, Inc. This awesome annual event to date has collected and donated $1,472,896.00 to local area organizations since it's inception in 1991. DEREK'S SONG - Here's to Life The 6th Annual Debbie Allen Dance Residency Award-winning dancer and choreographer Debbie Allen returns to Baton Rouge to produce a professional dance musical for young people as part of the Arts Council's sixth annual Debbie Allen Dance Residency. Debbie Allen has created this new program to honor the life and accomplishments of nationally-known arts professional and Arts Council CEO, Derek Gordon. The show will include some of Derek's favorite numbers from the past, as well as new numbers set to some of his favorite songs and is entitled: Derek's Song - Here's To Life. Debbie Allen is one of the most respected and versatile talents in the entertainment industry today and has been commissioned by the Kennedy Center to create numerous works for young audiences. She has familial ties to the Greater Baton Rouge Area and is delighted to contribute to the growth and enjoyment of dance in our community. This year's production features talented local dancers between the ages of 6 and 26 who have been cast and trained by Ms. Allen and master dance artists/professional dancers from the Debbie Allen Dance Academy. Ballet, Swing, Hip-Hop, Slide, Tap and Stepping are just a few of the dance styles incorporated into the show. Active for Autism Run/Walk and Fun Fest Families Helping Families of Greater Baton Rouge has partnered with Louisiana State Police to support Active for Autism Run/Walk and Fun Fest on Saturday April 13, 2013 from 8 a.m. to noon. The event will be held at the Louisiana State Police Training Headquarters Ground on Independence Boulevard in Baton Rouge. Registration for the 5K run or Family Fun Walk is $20.00 and includes a t-shirt.
