We amateur, but enthusiastic, gardeners envision beautiful flowering beds or prize-winning tomatoes this summer and are ready for any advice or suggestions to make this a reality. But where would one start? Start by visiting the most beautiful gardens in Baton Rouge—the LSU Ag Center Botanic Gardens at Burden. As part of the LSU Agricultural Center's Research and extension division, and under Dr. Jeff Kuehny, director and professor of horticulture, the Center is dedicated to research and education as well as the maintenance of its spectacular grounds. he and his staff are available as a valuable resource for the individual gardener and for commercial landscapers who are planning a project, and are eager to provide information to the public—information that can be vital in order to avoid a disappointing gardening experience. pam hodson, public relations specialist for the Botanic Gardens pointed out that just walking around the expansive property where the various plants are identified is an education in itself. 10 Read us online at
