52 Is there anything harder than losing a baby? As parents of a stillborn daughter, Todd and Monica Alley's heartbreak and grief are understandingly overwhelming. In their mourning, the couple knew there must be some way to honor their daughter Ann Grace and seek to support those parents who had experienced the same terrible loss. Establishing Anna's Grace Foundation was their way to achieve this goal. The Anna's Grace Foundation's mission is to provide financial and emotional aid to the many Baton Rouge parents whose hopes for the birth of a healthy baby were denied through stillbirth or miscarriage. At this time, most families are not prepared to take on the agonizing task of making funeral arrangements for their baby. Anna's Grace is there to assist these parents at the saddest point in their lives. Anna's Grace, a registered 501(c)(3) organization, coordinates with hospitals, funeral homes and cemeteries in the area to assist families with guidance. In addition, often financial difficulties prevent grief-stricken parents for obtaining a marker on which to place the infant's name. By partnering with the cemeteries in and around the city, Anna's Grace works to provide the graves with a marker so that these angels will be acknowledged as someone who has lived, though briefly, on this earth. Insurance coverage usually does not extend to end-of-life expenses, and the unanticipated cost for them only adds to the sorrow. Anna's Grace Foundation depends on volunteer and fundraising projects to help achieve its mission. Anna's Grace Foundation held its inaugural Love & Serve Tennis Tournament on October 9–11, 2015, at The Legacy at Bonne Esperance in Baton Rouge. Sponsors, players and volunteers from the Baton Rouge community came together to create this special event to benefit the young nonprofit. The tournament featured leveled teams competing for prizes and for the title of Champion. Players and spectators enjoyed a great venue, delicious food and beverages, a silent auction and lots of fun—all for a great cause. On January 9, 2016, Anna's Grace took part in the dedication of the Angel Bench at Woman's Hospital; the bench provides a place where those who lost their babies can gather to remember them.
