A friendly message Berry Balfour, At&t Louisiana external Affairs regional manager Attends Harvard Executive Training Program Berry Balfour, AT&T Louisiana External Affairs Regional Manager and member of the Delta Regional Authority, was one of five Louisianans selected to attend an executive training program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The program focused on cultivating "authentic leadership" to move Delta communities forward. The program, led by Harvard faculty, was the second continuing education training opportunity offered exclusively to the Delta Leadership Network. The program aims to connect the strongest leaders in the Delta region with an internationally respected institution for the tools, knowledge and network that will enable them improve their communities' economic outlook. Since 2005, the Delta Leadership Institute's Executive Academy has provided educational experiences for committed community members to enhance their leadership skills and abilities to create solutions to the region's economic and social challenges. Graduates of the Executive Academy become members of the Delta Leadership Network—taking their knowledge and understanding of issues back home to better serve their communities and develop new ways of thinking while fostering regional collaborations and partnerships. The Delta Leadership Network's partnership with the Harvard Kennedy School empowers these community leaders to continue regional collaboration, citizen-focused leadership and place-based decision making that are cornerstones of the Delta Leadership Institute. Over the years, 39 Delta Leadership Network members from eight states in the region were previously selected to attend this training at the Harvard Kennedy School, which maintains an abiding commitment to advancing the public interest by training skilled, exceptional leaders and solving public problems through world- class scholarship and active engagement with practitioners and decision makers. The school offers the depth, refection, insight and excellence of ideas and teaching that can shape future leaders, affect public policies and make an impact on people and their daily lives.
