55 Step into the kitchen and there to meet you is the star of the space—a granite-topped prep island that measures 9ft by 3ft! Large enough to dance on. Hanging above it is an impressive double iron light fixture, its scale corresponding to the island's size. "I love to cook and one of the things I definitely wanted in this house was an over-sized island," exclaimed Elise. Faux finished cabinets in a subtle light grey provide ample storage. While the kitchen, keeping room and breakfast nook's flooring is of porcelain tile, the opposite part of the home where a formal living and dining room are situated are anchored by heart of pine. A favorite spot for the family is the butler's pantry where everyone wants to hang out. "You can see where the floor is worn from the traffic here—close to the food and wet bar," said Elise. We have parties here and with all the room to choose from, this is where [everyone] congregates," she added laughing.
