25 Wines from the LSU Alumni Association's Geaux Vineyards label were awarded two Silver Awards from Tasting Magazine. Both the Cabernet Sauvignon (14% ABV) and Chardonnay (13.5% ABV) were given 87 points and rated as Highly Recommended by the magazine. The Cab is noted for its fruity and juicy texture with flavors of Craisins, sour cherries, nuts and a hint of molasses and pairs well with beef stew, lasagna and beef kabobs. Reviewers called it "a rock solid cabernet with nice tangy fruit and balanced oak." The Chardonnay (2015) is noted as fruity and smooth with a savory feel that reminds the palate of Clementine and pairs well with chicken, Chilean sea bass and lobster. The bottom line review said, "A snappy, well-rounded chardonnay sipper." Both wine vintages come from the California Central Coast. Geaux Vineyard wines, produced by MACH Flynt Inc., were blended especially by Master of Wines DC Flynt of Lake Charles, La. Proceeds from sale to the distributor above costs are donated back to the LSU Alumni Association to aid with the organiza- tion's philanthropic mission of supporting LSU. Both were launched in June 2016 and have quick- ly grown in popularity across the Gulf South region. Available at more than 200 retail outlets across Louisiana, and Texas, they can be ordered from Republic National distributor and are available in 44 states.
