We offer Health Insurance education and enrollment into an Affordable HealthPlan, Medicaid and CAFÉ services Altrusa Celebrates 75th Anniversary Altrusa International of Baton Rouge, Inc. celebrated 75 years of service at The City Club on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. Donna Britt from WAFB-TV was the emcee. Doug Pacas provided beautiful music on a grand piano. Distinguished guests included Dr. Shanta Proctor, Director of Women's Policy, State of Louisiana; Mayor- President Sharon Weston Broome; District Attorney Hillar Moore and his wife, Dawn; EBR Sheriff Sid Gautreaux and his wife, Suzi; and EBR Constable Major Reginald Brown and his wife, Gayle. The Young Marines made up the honor guard and presented the flags. Brief comments, along with congratulations, were made by Dr. Shanta Proctor. A proclamation was made by Mayor-President Broome and another special presentation was made by Constable Major Brown. The high point of the evening involved a representation of Altrusa's current service work at The Dufrocq school. Fifth-grader Beau Gaspard, son of Scott and Gina Gaspard and President of 'Crawfish Bayou' at Dufrocq, gave an informative Power Point presentation about his school titled "Crawfish Bayou: Where Learning Meets the Real World." The presentation was coordinated by Altrusan Janie Starks in cooperation with Gaspard's teachers and father. Members also spoke about the milestones of the club through the decades. The "Sweetheart of Altrusa" was awarded to Gerald Didier. Additionally, long-time members Marti Didier (a 43+ yr. member), Carolyn Robinson (a 40-yr. member), Diane Bezdek (a 33-yr. member) and Jackie Robbins (a 26-yr. member) were honored for their commitment and dedication.
